Jedes Jahr treffen sich die Sammler von Zoo-Material aus Europa in einem Zoo, um eine Tauschbörse zu veranstalten. Getauscht, aber auch verkauft wird fast alles, was irgendwie mit "Zoo" zu tun hat. Vorwiegend Zooführer, Faltblätter und Bücher, aber auch Postkarten, Poster oder Video-Kassetten.
Zum Zoosammlertreffen, manchmal auch etwas großspurig "Zoohistorica" genannt, gehören traditionell neben der Tauschbörse auch eine Zooführung mit Blick hinter die Kulissen und ein gemeinsames Abendessen mit anschließender Versteigerung von gespendetem Zoo-Material zugunsten eines Artenschutzprojektes.

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
19-th INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF COLLECTORS OF ZOO LITERATURE AND MEMORABILIA
ZOO WROCLAW (Poland) September 6-7, 2008
You are kindly invited to attend the 19-th International Meeting of Collectors
of Zoo Literature and Memorabilia hosted by the Municipal Zoological Gardens
of Wroclaw, Poland
General Information:
The meeting, including morning exchange session and evening meal and /with
an auction will be held at the “Restauracja Letnia” (Summer Restaurant)
located in the south-eastern corner of the zoo grounds.
Those of you who will arrive by their own car can drive into the Zoo grounds through the service gates and further on, by the zoo-internal road to the Summer Restaurant, to unload the heavy stuff. However, you will be asked to go back to the internal zoo-car parking place by the service gates, which you can use. The new service road, service gates and a staff car park are planned to be constructed very close to the Summer Restaurant but now it is hard to say whether those will be finished by September
Fees: Participant 20.00 Euro, Accompanying person 15.00 Euro
Payment shall be collected on arrival.
The above fee shall cover all the expenses, including a group photo and of
course, our evening meal with soft drinks (alcohol drinks at your own expense).
The monies from the auction will support the EAZA 2007/08 Amphibian Campaign or to any other amphibian saving /conservation project which is being currently carried out in Poland. This has yet to be decided.
And finally VERY INPORTANT information. Please try to book your hotels AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. There are plenty of hotels and hostels around the city but not as many as it should be. Usually there are plenty of tourists during the peak summer season and finding an accommodation could be a hard task. Unfortunately, there is not any hotel in the closest proximity to the zoo. I do hope you can easy find most of the convenient hostels and hotels using the Google or Yahoo search engines.

ZOOHISTORICA 18 (2007) – LAST-MINUTE UPDATE 29.8.

Dear Zoo enthusiasts and collectors (please read on further down):
Genau 100 Teilnehmer haben sich für die diesjährige Zoohistorica bis zum 28. August angemeldet. Wir freuen uns auf zahlreiche Besucher am Freitagabend bei „Mendelssohn’s“, und auf alle spätestens am Sonnabendmorgen um punkt 10:00 im Hagenbeck’schen Tropen-Aquarium. Ich hatte im letzten Rundbrief auf das gebührenpflichtige wenn auch preiswerte Parkhaus gegenüber dem Aquarium in der Lokstedter Grenzstraße hingewiesen. Ich hätte natürlich vor allem darauf hinweisen müssen, dass es daneben einen kostenlosen Parkplatz gibt! Pardon! Die Einfahrt dazu ist direkt gegenüber dem Tor 2, dem Eingang zur Tausch- und Verkaufsbörse am Sonnabend. Nur wer dort oder am Straßenrand keinen Parkplatz mehr findet, muss auf das Parkhaus ausweichen.
Der Erlös der Versteigerung am Sonnabendabend im „Flamingo Lodge“ kommt dieses Jahr einem gemeinsamen Projekt des Tierparks Hagenbeck und der Umweltstiftung WWF im malaysischen Sabah auf Borneo zugute: die Wiederaufforstung eines etwa 2.000 ha großen Reservats nördlich des Segama für die Wiederansiedlung von Orang-Utans. Mehr darüber berichtet Cord Crasselt von der Stiftung Tierpark Hagenbeck nach dem gemeinsamen Grillabend mit Mitgliedern des Fördervereins des Tierparks und unmittelbar vor der Auktion: also gegen 19:30.
Die Tagungsgebühr bleibt bei 18,-- Euro bzw. 13,-- Euro für Begleiter; bitte nach Möglichkeit den genauen Betrag bei der Anmeldung am Sonnabendmorgen dabei haben.
Exactly 100 participants were registered fort his year’s Zoohistorica as of August 28. We’re looking forward to greeting many visitors on Friday evening at Mendelssohn’s, and all of you on Saturday morning in Hagenbeck’s new Tropical Aquarium at 10 at the latest. I had written in the last circular that there is a public car park (a three-storey garage actually) across the street from the Aquarium in Lokstedter Grenzstrasse charging €2.50 for the whole day. I should have mentioned that adjacent to that there is a free public car park! Sorry! The entrance to the car park is directly across the street from the gate posted Tor 2, the entrance to the venue for Saturday’s trade fair. Only if the car park is full and no parking available along the street would one need to make use of the albeit cheap garage.
This year’s auction on Saturday evening will benefit a joint project of Hagenbeck and the WorldWide Fund for Nature in Sabah, Malaysia, on the island of Borneo: reforesting a 2,000-hectare reserve north of the river Segama for orang-utans. Cord Crasselt of the Hagenbeck Foundation will tell us more after our barbecue with members of the Friends-of-the-Tierpark society and just before we start our auction: that is, around 7:30 p. m.
The conference fee remains at €18.00 for full participants and €13.00 for accompanying spouses, partners and/or children; having the amount in correct change would be appreciated.

Auf der 16. Zoohistorica in Berlin 2005 haben wir beschlossen, im Jahre 2007 aus Anlass des 100jährigen Jubiläums der Einweihung des Tierparks Hagenbeck das 18. Sammlertreffen in Hamburg zu veranstalten. Letztes Jahr in München haben wir den Beschluss bestätigt und vor allem die freundlichen Einladungen des Hagenbeck'schen Tierparks sowie des Wildparks Schwarze Berge in Rosengarten bei Hamburg zugesichert bekommen.
